So here in the land of the free, we’re told that we can’t be told what the government is doing about terrorism. If word does leak out that they actually do surveil their communication and financial transactions we’re told that such information being public may destroy the ability to fight the terrorists.
Whereas across the pond, the head of MI5 herself announces that they know of 30 plots in the works and have 1600 people under watch. Of course they don’t say who specifically they’re tracking which means anyone who is plotting will be on edge, wondering when the SAS is going to be kicking down the door. Terrify the terrorists instead of your own citizens, a concept that will hopefully make its way over here soon.
